WHAT HAPPENS TO RESIN OVER TIME

Resin may look fine at first, but over time it can yellow, soften, or crack — especially when exposed to warm water, sunlight, UV light, or heat. That’s why many resin-based brands advise you to avoid showers, swimming, sunbathing, or even hand sanitiser. We believe that’s not good enough for jewelry holding your loved one’s ashes.

WHY IT MATTERS

Your jewelry holds something precious, and it should be as strong as your memories. With resin-free ashes jewelry, you don’t have to worry about wear, water, or light. It’s beautiful, durable, and made with care by professional, traditional jewelers.

And unlike resin jewelry, our rings can be resized, so they’ll fit comfortably for a lifetime.

OUR MATERIALS VS RESIN

OUR MATERIALS VS RESIN

At Ashes With Art, we never use resin in our jewelry, and never will.
While resin may be common in keepsake jewelry, it simply isn’t suitable for durable memorial jewelry.

Unlike resin, our materials are UV-stable, waterproof, and trusted by professional jewelers for generations. That means you can wear your ashes jewelry with confidence, knowing it’s made to the highest standards, no resin, ever.

THE PROFESSIONAL ALTERNATIVE

THE PROFESSIONAL ALTERNATIVE

We use only time-tested, professional-grade materials, the same ones used by high street jewelers and premium jewelry brands.

Instead of resin, we offer lasting alternatives such as diamonds, semi-precious gemstones, glass and plain precious metal design with hidden chambers that hold the ashes or hair, all carefully crafted to stand the test of time.

You’ll never find resin in a quality jeweler’s display case, which is why you won’t find it in ours.

Resin-Free Jewelry, Keepsakes & Artwork FAQs

Why do some memorial jewelry brands use resin?

Resin is inexpensive and easy to work with, which means it can be used without the need for skilled jewelers. That’s why many keepsake brands choose it. But it comes at a cost, resin isn’t made for lasting wear and can yellow, crack, or soften when exposed to sunlight, water, or heat.

What happens to resin over time?

Resin is sensitive to its environment. Over time, it can yellow, soften, shrink, or crack, especially when exposed to heat, warm water, UV light, or sunlight. That’s why many resin-based brands advise removing your jewelry when showering, swimming, sunbathing, or using hand sanitiser.

Do any high-end jewelers use resin?

No. Resin is not used in traditional fine jewelry or by high-end brands. Professional jewelers favour materials that are durable, UV-stable, and water-safe, which resin simply is not.

Is resin waterproof?

No. Resin is only water-resistant at best. It’s particularly vulnerable to warm water and extended exposure to moisture. Regular activities like bathing, swimming, or even hand washing can weaken its structure and affect its clarity.

What do you use instead of resin?

We use time-tested jewelry materials such as glass, diamonds, and semi precious gemstones, all of which are waterproof, UV-stable, and trusted by professional jewelers for generations. These materials ensure your ashes jewelry lasts a lifetime, without compromise.

Is it safe to wear your jewelry every day?

Yes. Our resin-free ashes jewelry is designed for everyday life. Unlike resin-based alternatives, our gemstones won’t be damaged by showers, sun exposure, or common products like hand sanitizer, giving you confidence and peace of mind.

Will your gemstones fade, yellow, or discolor like resin can?

No. We use stable, long-lasting materials that resist UV light and heat, the main causes of resin degradation. Your jewelry will retain its clarity, structure, and color over time.

What’s the difference between your jewelry and resin-based pieces?

Resin-based jewelry often comes with care warnings and usage limits. Our jewelry is made to be worn and enjoyed just like any other fine jewelry, crafted with traditional materials and professional craftsmanship. It’s not just a keepsake; it’s genuine, lasting jewelry.

Can I shower, swim, or sunbathe while wearing your jewelry?

Yes. Our materials are safe for daily wear and everyday activities. Unlike resin, they won’t react to water, sunlight, or heat, so you don’t have to worry about removing your jewelry constantly.

Why is using resin such a concern in ashes jewelry?

Your jewelry holds something deeply precious. It should be as strong, dependable, and lasting as your memories. Resin simply doesn’t offer that level of integrity — which is why we never use it.

Can resin rings be resized?

No. Resin rings cannot be resized because resin cannot be stretched, compressed, or reshaped without cracking or breaking. This means if your finger size changes, the only option is to replace the ring entirely. Our resin-free ashes jewelry rings, made with professional jewelry materials, can be resized by a skilled jeweler, just like fine jewelry should be.

Why don’t you use resin?

We don’t use resin because it isn’t a long-lasting or stable material for memorial jewelry. Resin can yellow, crack, or degrade over time, especially when exposed to sunlight, heat, or moisture.

At Ashes With Art, we believe memorial jewelry should last a lifetime and beyond — which is why we handcraft each piece using kiln-fired glass gemstones and precious metals only. Glass is permanent, non-reactive, and preserves the ashes beautifully without risk of change or damage.

Put simply: resin doesn’t meet our standards for quality, durability, or respect, so we’ve never used it — and never will.

Are any of your pieces made with resin?

No, none of our jewelry contains resin, epoxy, acrylic or any poured plastic material. Ashes With Art is a 100% resin-free memorial jewelry maker. Instead of resin, we use professional fine-jewelry materials such as kiln-fired glass, lab-grown stones, natural gemstones and diamonds. This gives our ashes jewelry long-term durability, a premium finish, and full protection against yellowing, cracking, water damage and UV light — issues that commonly affect resin memorial jewelry.
